Can spending more time in the sun boost fertility of women in their 30s and beyond?

Exposure to the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays may have a positive effect on fertility in women aged 30 and beyond. Research from Tel Aviv University and the Sheba Medical Center suggests that increased exposure to UV radiation during the summer can lead to heightened secretion of a hormone affecting fertility from the ovaries in women aged 30-40.

The ovaries of women in the 'late reproductive' age range were found to secrete more AMH hormone, which is linked to ovarian function, during the summer.

The study found a statistically significant seasonal pattern where women aged 30-40, especially those over 35, responded positively to sun exposure, potentially enhancing their fertility. There doesn’t exist the exact mechanism of why this occurs or what are the success rates.

It remains to be determined how much UV radiation is required to amplify fertility success in an older subset of women.
